Project Overview.
Helix played a key role in developing 18 audio-visual exhibits in the Natural History section of the Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre, the world’s largest museum complex. Our involvement spanned the full project lifecycle, from pre-production to installation, using cutting-edge technology to create immersive and interactive exhibits that bring Earth’s history to life.
Production Process.
Exhibit Highlights:
- Journey to the Centre of the Earth: A 360-degree immersive ride, simulating a drilling journey through the Earth’s core, complete with synchronized sound and lighting effects.
- Wall of Time: A 5.20-minute animated projection showcasing Earth’s creation and major time periods, with custom-modeled creatures.
- Extinction Theatre: A 6-minute show presented in a 180° theatre, visualizing five major extinction events and speculating on a possible sixth.
- Experience an Earthquake: A 3-minute immersive experience featuring a Japanese city during an earthquake, with a vibrating floor for enhanced realism.
- Fossil Fuel, Hybrid, and Electric Cars: A 3-minute animated show comparing vehicle types, alongside physical displays of the vehicles.
- Earth at Risk: A 5-minute 180° film highlighting the imminent dangers of climate change and the potential consequences for the planet.

The Outcome.
Helix delivered a range of immersive, interactive exhibits, enhancing the museum’s natural history section and offering visitors engaging, educational experiences. Each exhibit, including Journey to the Centre of the Earth and Earth at Risk, continues to inspire and educate visitors about Earth’s past, present, and future.
