Production Process.

  • Clinic Documentation: Filmed in two clinics—Shubra and Dokki—capturing the entire patient journey from registration to discharge using Insta360 Pro II cameras. The immersive footage provided viewers with an authentic look at how diabetes is managed in these local healthcare settings.

  • Home Visits: Captured 360-degree footage of patients’ daily routines, interactions with family, and diabetes management practices at home. This gave a full, realistic depiction of how patients cope with the condition beyond the clinical environment.

  • Interviews: Conducted in-depth 2D interviews with patients, doctors, and caregivers to provide valuable insights into how cultural, social, and economic factors affect diabetes care and patient outcomes.

The Outcome.

The VR content developed by Helix became a valuable educational tool, allowing medical students, professionals, and researchers to virtually explore diabetes care in Cairo. This immersive tool offers a deeper understanding of how cultural and environmental factors shape healthcare practices. By placing learners directly into clinical and home environments through VR, the content provides an engaging and impactful way to study cross-cultural healthcare. The project enhances global medical education by bridging the gap between theoretical study and real-world applications, making it a valuable resource for improving diabetes care understanding.
